Universal Robot

@ ZeMA, Germany

Problem definition
Assembly operations in final automotive assembly are often carried out manually and overhead. These assembly operations are ergonomically very stressful for the employee. At this point, human-robot cooperation as a key technology can increase the productivity of the assembly line and reduce costs.

Advantages of the solution
The cooperation of man and robot can ensure that the strain on workers is reduced in the case of ergonomically disadvantageous processes. The reduction of production costs, combined with increased process capability, offer further advantages of robot support.

Used technologies
Automated assistance systems are used to support the underbody assembly. By means of sensor technology to detect the joints, tools for automated bolting can be used. Man and robot thus work in close cooperation.

Application areas
This technology is currently used in the automotive industry, but can in principle be transferred to other ergonomically demanding activities.
